NYC enjoins MMSU student orgs in the localization of nat'l youth agenda
June 28, 2019

The National Youth Commission headed by Hon. James Caesar A. Ventura enjoins around 80 MMSU student leaders in the Youth Organizations’ Registration Program (YORP) of the National Youth Commission during the YORP Caravan held at the University Function Hall last April 15, 2019.
The participating student leaders were identified to participate with their advisers in the In-School Localization of the Philippine Youth Development Plan (PYDP) 2017-2020 joint program of the NYC and MMSU thru the Office of the Student Services and Development (OSSD). Only 24 accredited organizations were initially endorsed for this program. The program aims to mainstream the PYDP through student organizations. The officers were encouraged to register their respective organizations in the national directory of youth organizations, which would ensure them the access and participation in the NYC-initiated programs nationwide.
Comm Ventura was accompanied by his staff and the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) personnel. They were instrumental in inspiring and challenging the participants as they engaged them in the lectures and workshop. The participants were grouped according to the nine (9) centers of participation of the PYDP agenda: Health, Education, Economic empowerment, Social inclusion and equity, Peace-building and security, Governance, Active Citizenship, Environment, and Global mobility.
After the lectures, the participants were tasked to develop plans for programs and activities that are anchored on the nine centers. From among these student leaders, some volunteered to present their workshop outputs and subjected these outputs to critiquing by their fellow participants. These proposed plans and activities are currently processed at NYC. The final review of these plans will be tackled in the next stage of the program, which will be conducted in August 2019.
Among the 24 participating student organizations, 8 has already registered to the YORP. Two (2) among those who registered has already successfully qualified to the national registry. These are the Junior Foresters’ Association of CAFSD and the Physical Therapy Students Association of CHS. The other six (6) have their applications on hold pending submission of required documents. These are the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) of COE, Agribusiness Society of CAFSD, CASAT Student Council, Computing Science Society of CAS, Economics Society of CBEA and CIT Student Council. In the follow-up meeting conducted at OSSD with Ms. Kathrina E. Narciso, representative of NYC, the others are expected to finalize the registration process before the next stage of the program.
